Children

We believe that children deserve the best start in life and do not need to suffer from dental disease at all. Our aim is always to prevent problems. We offer preventive advice to new mothers free of charge.

We hope to find perfectly healthy teeth in our young patients, unfortunately this is not always the case and when we do find dental decay, we will spend time tracking down the cause of the problems and working with you to prevent future decay.

Even the healthiest mouths have crooked teeth and we have a good relationship with a fantastic orthodontist who will straighten under 18s teeth within the NHS. He does have a waiting list so we aim to refer early enough to get our young patients to the top of the list at the right time.

We charge half the adult rate for a child’s check up and recommend 2 visits a year to make sure problems are detected early. This means that the normal fees for a child will be £32 a year. We charge the normal adult rate for filling adult teeth in a child’s mouth. If anything, children require more time and care than adults and we want to make the experience a good one. Where a local anaesthetic is required we use the Wand, a way of giving local anaesthetic completely comfortably. The Wand looks like a pen with a clear plastic casing so the children find it reassuringly familiar.
